Content Planning for Instagram!

If you have a business or creative Instagram account, you’re more than likely on the platform to bring awareness to your brand. But how do we know when or how frequently to post? There are many quick and easy ways to start planning your content and getting a step ahead to bringing that awareness to your profile!

Instagram has tools to help creatives and business owners schedule their posts to bring optimal awareness, depending on your audience. But before we talk about that, the real challenge is getting content, at least for most of us, getting enough content can be a struggle. The best strategy to get enough content is to know your audience and the content you want to create. Then planning days to shoot and get enough content to last you a while. Depending on your schedule and availability, you may want to shoot more or less frequently. But planning the shoot and taking some time to get enough content to last you a while can free up a lot of time to focus on the other tasks your business will require.

Let’s say you’ve gotten all the content you need. Now when do you post? Instagram has analytics for both business and creative accounts. It is easy to look at those analytics and plan your content accordingly. To get to that, you’d want to explore the “insight” tab on your profile page. Once there, you click on “Your Audience - See All” and scroll down to the “Most Active Times” chart. There you will see when is the most optimal time to post on any given day. Each account will be different because we all have a diverse audience. Make sure to check every day and plan the day/time to post according to your analytics.

Now that you know your active time, the last thing to note is how frequently to post. You want to post as often as possible to show the Instagram algorithm that you’re engaging with your audience, but that depends on the amount of content you have. You can start by posting once a week, and as you get better at developing content, ideally, you’d want to work on posting at least once a day. The goal is to stay consistent and create quality content that will engage your audience.

Now you’re pretty much all covered at starting your intent planning and bringing awareness to your business or personal brand on Instagram. If you want to simplify it, it’s a 3 step process. Create a batch of content, know your analytics, and finally, post. Creating content and planning can become a job, but engaging with your audience allows you to serve your community more personally. So Instagram is a perfect platform for bringing more awareness to your brand and building a proper community.
